Morgan Taylor Whimisical Nails

Fashion went to the dogs at Jen Kao where Afghan pooches inspired the long flowing hair while earthy matte skin-tone manicures and pedicures accented the ode to the American West in boxy frayed plaids and denims. Colors used were Morgan Taylor In The Nude topped with Mattes A Wrap.

At Malan Breton, manicures inspired by sapphires set in platinum were created using Rhythm And Blues silhouetted in Chain Reaction on elegant almond-shaped nails.  null Yigal Azrouël‘s sexy black and white collection with graphic cutouts based on optical effects was completed by a severe matte fleshtone mani trimmed with a sleek black edge. The colors used were a custom-blended foundation and Little Black Dress tips under Mattes A Wrap.

Thakoon presented a studied feminine silhouette in crisp whites and icy pastels, accented with light-reflecting details – crystal chains, metallic lace, and pearl straps. Pretty oval shaped manicures in Adorned in Diamonds sparkly cool pale pink caught the light.

Zac Posen‘s ultra romantic, rococo ruffled gowns and voluminous floral prints in dusty pastels inspired a faded ‘rosegarden manicure’ using Coming Up Roses at the base, an earthy pink, and fading at the tip to Polished Up, a cool pastel.

Morgan Taylor is a prestige professional lacquer collection of 100 shades that debuted worldwide in May 2013. It is sold exclusively in salons, retail price is $8.50 per bottle. For salon locations visit

NYFW: CND Aqua-nail life lives on at Malandrino, Victoria Beekham and Binetti

The Spring 2013 runway aquatic lives on! Yesterday the most amazing manicures were marine-inspired in hues of luminescent oyster gray, and some even had a small surprise inside…OMG you’ll love it!!

At Malandrino, CND’s Angi Wingle crafted a “Freshwater Pearl” manicure using a custom blend of CND Air Dry Top Coat, Additives in Titanium Pearl, and two drops of CND Colour in Blackjack. This subdued, opalescent gray nail dips into a feminine, softer metallic for Spring – a departure from Fall’s liquid shine, foil-like chromes.

For Binetti, CND’s Heather Reynosa-Davis designed oyster shell-inspired nails using assorted CND Colours in Tropic Coral, Flamingo Feather, Rouge Red and Blackjack. These triple-tier manicures revealed delicate pearls between each nail layer! Other manicure styles included lucite nails with accents of red and black for a see-through, sophisticated finish.

This is super enlarged…look at the multi-layers of these nails.

At Victoria Beckham, CND’s Roxanne Valinoti blended CND Colours in Putty and Desert Suede for a clean, professional nude on short, natural nails. The manicure, along with natural makeup and slicked back hair, were meant to direct attention to structured skirt suits, lingerie, fitted sheath dresses, and calf-length gladiator sandals.

I’m so excited to try these and it seems that there are lots of nail-surprises to come.  More soon but until then…enjoy these.

NYFW: CND Nail polish delights

The stars and nails were shining bright at Nicole Miller, where sci-fi 80’s inspired prints were accessorized with Galaxy Glam nails created by CND‘s Candice Manacchio. The manicure was concocted with a custom blended mint green overlapped with sporadically sponged-on CND Sapphire Sparkle Effect, CND Colour in Studio White, and a pink shade from CND’s NEW polish line launching in late Spring 2013…get excited! Each nail was edged out with CND Colour in Blackjack for a modern twist. Pedicures in jet black CND Blackjack solidified why darks are tres chic for toes too…even in the warmer seasons!

At Behnaz Sarafpour, CND‘s Shelena Robinson told a Fairy Nail with whimsical Fairy Dust manicures in a prismatic glitter fade of blended CND Additives in Spectrum Shimmer and Antique Bronze over clear CND Air Dry Top Coat. To get this look at home, apply fine glitter with an art brush from halfway up the nail to the tip while the top coat is still tacky. Seal with another layer of top coat to protect and preserve your dazzling design! This nail punctuated the beautiful nymph collection embroidered with delicate flora and fauna on feminine silhouettes.

For Jen Kao, CND‘s Shelena Robinson crafted earthy, muted beige nails inspired by bone with CND Gold Shimmer Effect layered with CND Colour in Pink Lily and finished with CND Super Matte Top Coat.

CND Cracks Down to Ensure Quality Control

When you’re planning your wedding, beauty treatments are something you think about.  Let’s face it, from the moment you say “Yes to the ring”, people are looking at your ring which means, your hands and nails are on constant display. This is why if you have a professional nail treatment – especially a gel treatment – you should know what you’re getting yourself into.

The fact is, all nail services are NOT created equal! Things like skill level and proper training of the Nail Professional as well as the quality of the products used should be considered. CND Shellac was no exception. CND Shellac Power Polish™ is supposed to be a one-of-a-kind product with easy, non-damaging removal that sets it apart from “me-too” products and gel manicures. When used as directed, it comes off quickly and easily without harming the natural nail – no filing is necessary for application or removal.  Did you read that last part? “No filing is necessary for application or removal.”  Say what?!?  Every single time I had any gel manicure done or removed there was filing going on and that’s exactly what damaged my nails!

CND won't damage your nails!

What is CND doing about the problem? CND is cracking down on CND Shellac fraud by implementing a CND Shellac Salon Certification Program. This program deploys CND Education Ambassadors to visit salons across the country who registered on as Shellac Salons. To be a certified CND Shellac Salon, a CND representative will visit the salon, provide training and review protocol (no mixing systems or filing on the nail…ever!). Salons that meet the criteria will be awarded CND’s seal of approval. Look for the “Certified” window in the entrance to the salon.

“Our CND Shellac Salon Certification Program will ensure the ultimate experience for clients and will provide a great incentive to Nail Professionals to provide exemplary CND Shellac services,” says CND Co-Founder, Jan Arnold.

As an educated consumer, here are some pointers for making sure you receive the REAL CND Shellac:

1) Look for the CND seal of approval on the window of your salon.
2) Ask if the salon uses CND Shellac products.
3) Watch the products that are being used during the service – if you do not see “CND Shellac” on the bottle, it’s not Shellac.
4) During removal, do not allow soaking of nails in a bowl of acetone – request CND Shellac Remover Wraps or cotton and tin foil removal method.

The program is rolling out first in New York, California, Nevada, Colorado, Ohio and Chicago, and will expand across the US in 2012.  So when you choose your gel – and I HIGHLY RECOMMEND it because you can have it done the week before your wedding and it will still look fresh on your wedding day, make sure you get CND polish and not other brands.  Trust me on this one – I did and my nails with one that “looked like and was just like’ and paid the price.  I’ll never use anything other than CND.

Disclosure: They have not paid me to post this nor endorse them – I’m just sharing on my own experience.
