NYFW: Iman Cosmetics creates beach-inspired look for Mataano Spring 2013 collection

As the exclusive makeup sponsor of the Mataano Spring / Summer 2013 runway show, master makeup artist Byron Barnes led the talented makeup team to create this beach-inspired look from the Somali twin designers.

From the collection’s color palette of ocean mist, green coral, dusty rose, sand and sun, to the spare no-frills silhouettes, “we wanted the kind of easy, flowing pieces women can throw in their suitcases when traveling to the beaches of Malibu, Mombasa or St. Bart’s,” stated designers Ayaan and Idyl Mohallim. The girls finished off these breezy looks with the compulsory beach-chic braided hairstyles and soft, natural-looking makeup that gives the “I just left the beach and naturally look this beautiful” affect.

For a satiny finish, lightly apply Second to None Stick Foundation to the entire face. Top off with a light dusting of Luxury Translucent Powder for a fresh, clean look.

Transforming a universally flattering bronzer into a soft eye palette, use the pinkish tones of Sheer Finish Bronzing Powder in “Afterglow” on eyelids for a chic, feminine look. For added definition, use the Eye-Con Collection by applying the deep rose shade from the Cool Violet Trio in the crease and the light pearl from the Golden Romance Trio on the brow bone for highlighting.

For a light pink matte lip, layer IMAN Pink Luxury Lip Stain. For a deeper variation, blend with Scorpion Luxury Moisturizing Lipstick.

Apply Luxury Blushing Powder in Peace to the apple of the cheeks to give a warm, rosy glow. Then add shimmer with a touch of Afterglow Sheer Bronzing powder placed high on the cheekbone.
