Wine Wednesday: Drinking with the Stars and Sauza® Tequila

Did you watch this year’s Emmy Awards?  Are you excited for the 2011-12 Fall TV line-up?  Hopefully your favorite celebrity won or at least wore some great fashion.  Continue the celebration by making these fresh-tasting margaritas from Sauza Tequila. Of course you need some great snacks, so fresh chips and salsa, my favorite winning combination.

As always, remember to drink responsibly and congratulations to all the winners. 

The Bloody Maria

A deviously delicious cocktail to mix up in honor of Emmy Award nominee, Dexter.

Ingredients:

1 ½ part Sauza® Silver Tequila

7 parts Tomato Juice

1 squeeze of Siracha Chili Sauce

3 grinds Fresh Black Pepper

Juice of 1 Lemon

Dash of Celery Salt

Dash of Paprika

Dash of Cumin

Several dashes of Worcestershire Sauce

Directions:

Combine ingredients in a shaker filled with ice. Shake well and pour into a tall glass over ice, with or without salt. Garnish with a lime, an olive, a pickled jalapeño and a sprig of cilantro.

 

The Style Icon

The perfect cocktail for fans of nominee, Project Runway, and its classic style icon and host, Tim Gunn.

Serves 7

Ingredients:

7.5 oz. Sauza® Gold Tequila

4.5 oz. DeKuyper® Triple Sec

24 oz. Margarita Mix

Lime or Orange Wedge for garnish

Directions:

Combine ingredients without ice and shake vigorously. Pour the mixture into your fiercest margarita glass over ice, garnish and enjoy.

The Prohibition

A cocktail that includes both tequila and beer is the perfect way to show your support for Boardwalk Empire .

Serves 9

Ingredients:

1 can Sauza® Silver Tequila

1 can Frozen Limeade

1 bottle Light Beer

1 can Water

Lime Wheel for garnish

Directions:

Pour limeade and beer into a pitcher with ice. Fill limeade can 2/3 with Sauza® Silver Tequila and pour into pitcher. Add a can of water, stir and enjoy.

 

The Mamarita

Pays tribute to nominee Modern Family and all moms everywhere.

Ingredients:

1 ½ parts Sauza® Silver Tequila

½ part Cabernet Sauvignon

1 part DeKuyper® Triple Sec

1 part Agave Nectar

1 part Fresh Lime Juice

Directions:

Combine ingredients in a shaker filled with ice. Shake and strain into a martini glass. Garnish with a lime twist

 

The Perfect 10

Created in honor of nominee Dancing with the Stars and all the celebs who are so light on their feet.

Serves 8

Ingredients:

10 oz. Sauza® Silver Tequila

3 oz. DeKuyper® Triple Sec

7 oz. Fresh Lime Juice

7 oz. Sugar Free Simple Syrup (equal parts water and non-sugar sweetener)

Directions:

Pour Sauza® Silver Tequila into a pitcher with ice. Add in triple sec and fresh lime juice. Add sugar free simple syrup, stir and serve over ice.

 

The Sparkling White

Created in honor of Betty White, a seven-time Emmy winner and nominee for Hot In Cleveland.

Serves 9

Ingredients:

7.5 oz. Sauza® Silver Tequila

2.5 oz. DeKuyper® Triple Sec

3 oz. Fresh Lime Juice (3 wedges)

3 oz. Agave Nectar

12 oz. Prosecco or Sparkling White Wine

Lime Wedge for garnish

Directions:

Combine ingredients (except for the sparkling wine) in a shaker filled with ice and shake vigorously to chill. Strain the mixture into a chilled champagne glasses and top it off with the sparkling wine. Garnish and enjoy.

 

The Lady Lemonade

The best way to say cheers to 30 Rock and Tina Fey’s “Liz Lemon” for their nominations.

Serves 8

Ingredients:

10 oz. Sauza® Gold Tequila

3 oz. DeKuyper® Triple Sec

24 oz. Lemonade

8 oz. Lemon-Lime Soda

Lemon Wedge for garnish

Directions:

Combine the ingredients without ice and shake vigorously. Pour the mixture into a glass over ice, garnish and enjoy.
