Prince Albert and Charlene Wittstock were married in a civil ceremony yesterday and today had a religious ceremony in Monaco. He, dressed in his military uniform and looked dashing! The little flower girls looked so adorable in red and white outfits with hats. So get to the good part…what and who did she wear?
The bride wore a Giorgio Armani original, embellished with 40,000 Swarovski crystals, 2,000 mother of pearl drops, platinum coated thread and 30,000 ‘golden stones’. Kind of heavy but oh-so-sparkly! Of course when Mr. Armani arrived to at the church, he received a rousing applause. The bride wore no necklace or earrings. I do believe if she had, it would have overwhelmed the hair piece she wore which was blinged out!! Her hair was in a very low bun and wrapped around seemed to be a jeweled hairpiece. She did have just a bit of trouble with her three-tiered train as she walked to sign the registry, but handled it beautifully.
This off the shoulder off-white gown is said to have taken 2500 hours to produce. Notes to all brides, when you are picking a gown, choose one that shows off your best asset. For Charlene, a former swimmer her shoulders and long neck were spectacularly on display.
For me, there was a very sad moment, when she laid her flowers at the Sainte Dévote church. The new princess was in tears and perhaps completely overwhelmed and relieved that the official portions were over.
So was this the same as William and Catherine’s? No, but then again, every wedding is unique and the focus should be on the happy couple and not comparing one to the other. In the end, there were two beautiful brides, who hopefully have married their true prince charming.
Congratulations to HRH Albert and Charlene of Monaco.
