Patricia Avendaño gave free rein to excess in this party and bridal-wear collection for 2011, which stays true to the designer’s skills at enhancing the female figure in all its natural beauty.
Fabric gathers movement and becomes the central figure in a collection that offers frills, pleating and ruches on mermaid shapes. Feathers trim whimsical waves, which predominate in bridal-wear, while convention is broken in garments of extreme modesty that seek out beauty whilst shunning artifice.
The party section she also included focuses on an intense palette of red, mauve and green, alternating with powerful black & white prints. I’ve included a few of my favorites, not necessarily because of the colors, but because of style, neckline or movement. Enjoy!
