The inspiration: “The grace, romance and effortless style of iconic American women who fascinated the English aristocracy during the 1930’s: Viscountess Thelma Furness, Lady Emerald Cunard, The Duchess of Windsor Wallis Simpson … all embodied a classic American spirit informed by British style at its most glamorous.”
This collection is forceful with a few soft edges. Like her spring 2011 collection, the fall is dark and just as edgy. Black, still rules her runway, there are some beautiful necklines and even an occasional ecru thrown in for good measure. This is so not the romance and whimsy of bridal, even though some of the collection did have wonderfully full and pleated skirts and gowns. The plunging necklines for a woman with a bust…well, let’s just say, this is not the collection for you. Even with the double-sided tape, one model had a wardrobe malfunction
This was Vera Wang and what she wants to see this fall. Who am I to disagree?
